Chess sets Armo

Chess has a long tradition in our family.
Already in the 30s of the last century, Raimund Mureda, famous and talented director of the School of Art of Ortisei, brother of the founder Arnold Moroder, carved unique chess pieces in traditional Val Gardena costumes for him.
Thanks to his passion, The Knight Chess set appears in the 1960s. Shortly thereafter followed the French-Royal Chess set, whit his elegant and slender figures. Arnold Moroder was also interested in the world of the Etruscans, an ancient population whose remains were found on the "Col de Flam" in Val Gardena: from this passion arose the Etruscan Chess set. Recently we have taken the unique and traditional chess pieces of our uncle and Art School director as a model to put them into production.
The sizes of the chess pieces are measured by the king.
